The G4 and G5 versions will not run at all on a G3, and the G5 version will perform badly or crash on non-G5 Macintoshes.Īll current downloads are hosted on SourceForge. The G3 version will run on any supported Macintosh, but it will not take advantage of the additional features of G4 or G5 processors. Make sure you select the appropriate build for your Mac from the main site download page. You should not use Firefox 3.6 if you are using a current version of TenFourFox, as you will lose data by switching back and forth between Firefox 3.6 and TenFourFox 38, and doing so is not supported with any version of TenFourFox. If your bookmarks fail to transfer to TenFourFox 38, press Command-Shift-B again (this time, in TenFourFox), click the "star" icon, select Import Bookmarks from HTML., and choose your backed-up HTML bookmarks. Before updating, open the Bookmarks Organizer in Firefox 3.6 by pressing Command-Shift-B, click the "star" Import & Backup button and choose Export HTML. We advise you export your bookmarks to HTML so that you can reimport them into TenFourFox 38 if there is a problem. If you are updating (or still use) Firefox 3.6, your bookmarks may no longer be compatible. If you are updating from TenFourFox 31, no special steps are required. Because Apple no longer supports Rosetta and 10.4Fx is not a Universal binary, it will not run under Lion 10.7 or any subsequent version of Mac OS X. Although some users have reported success getting the G3 version of 10.4Fx to run under Rosetta, certain features may not work correctly or at all on Intel Macs, and you may need to completely disable JavaScript compilation for it to work with Rosetta (see the FAQ for more information). ![]() Although the browser may run under Mac OS X Server, it is not currently supported. Video playback is likely to be poor on systems slower than 1.25GHz a G5 is recommended. ![]() 1GB of RAM and a G4 or G5 processor is recommended. TenFourFox (hereafter "10.4Fx") requires a G3 Power Macintosh, Mac OS X 10.4.11, 200MB of free disk space and 512MB of RAM. We may periodically revise this document with late-breaking information, so check back for updates if you have difficulty. Please read the release notes below for important information on using the browser. I've been slack on some other fun posts and I'll try to catch up on those soon as my situation permits.38.3.0 is a security and bugfix update for TenFourFox 38. As always, the browser goes live on Monday evening Pacific time. You can still consider trying it on your own Power Mac and seeing if that helps, but I've abandoned this line of enhancement for the time being and it remains enabled by default in 38.3. Although it was a win on my systems, a few of you reported it made them somewhat worse, and not enough people reported a difference to really outweigh them. Because of these issues, official MP3 support is still delayed for the time being.ĭisabling incremental garbage collection in lieu of periodic full collections of the tenured heap appears to be a mixed bag with respect to performance. The remaining questionable bug allegedly has to do with modal drop-down-sheet requesters becoming unresponsive, which in turn makes the browser halt (more accurately it goes into a loop where it ignores other events), but I can't get it to do so reliably. If I can't figure this out, forcing it to save uncompressed backups a la TenFourFox 31 should not be exceptionally hard. In addition, the new jsonlz4 compressed JSON bookmark backup format seems to be bogus despite setting all the proper endian options near as I can tell, so I'm not sure why it's writing invalid data. The patch I added to 38.3.0 seems to wallpaper the intermittent crash that can result from it though not the incorrect behaviour it causes with the JITs (but it does restore correct behaviour with the naked interpreter, which was not the case in 38.2.x), although I don't think this is the cause of some of the unreproducible crashes a few people have reported - YMMV. We have an issue with what appears to be exact rooting and may be partially a compiler bug, but I can only reproduce it on Github, and only specifically with one particular operation. ![]() Currently I'm tracking two confirmed bugs and one questionable one, none of which are fully fixed yet. TenFourFox 38.3.0 is now available for testing ( release notes, hashes, downloads). ![]() Try as I might, however, I could not find any XUL in it ( there is no XUL, only WebExtensions).
